ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Camilla d’Errico
Camilla is a talented oil painter and comic book artist working out of Vancouver right now and making some fantastically playful, feminine art. Taking a lot of her inspiration from Japanese anime and utilizing symbols and fixtures from nature, her work radiates energy. I love the mix of real and whimsical with D’Errico. The doe-eyed beauties she paints have these intense glares and expressions that seem to separate them from typical manga designs. Instead, centered around this pop-surrealist cartoon/woman hybrid, are unconventional colors and animals filling the composition. The inclusion of wild-life in all her paintings can be attributed to her favorite pastime growing up- watching National Geographic with her dad… does it get any sweeter?
